How To Make Oyster Stew

Ingredients you’ll need:

  • 1 Tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 1 Teaspoon salt
  • Dash of pepper
  • Dash of ground mace (optional)
  • 1 Tablespoon cold water
  • 1 Pint shucked oysters
  • 1 Cup light cream
  • 1/2 Cup Milk
  • 2 tablespoons of butter
  • Paprika
  • Oyster Crackers

Instructions:

  1. In a 2-quart saucepan combine flour, salt, and pepper; stir in ground mace if desired.
  2. Stir in cold water and then add in undrained oysters.
  3. Over medium-high heat, cook and stir until hot.
  4. Reduce heat; simmer, stirring gently for 3-4 minutes or until edges of oysters curl.
  5. Stir in the cream and milk; heat through.
  6. Ladle into soup bowls. Top with butter and sprinkle with paprika.
  7. Serve immediately and enjoy with crackers. Makes 6-8 servings.
